RULES & ELIGIBILITY OUTLINE

CERTIFICATES (OR STATE IDs) AND REPORT CARDS ARE REQUIRED TO BE

PRESENTED AT CHECK-IN FOR EACH PLAYER****

Player Eligibility This tournament is a GRADE BASED event. A player may not play in a lower grade
than he/she is in current school year. Play down exceptions will be allowed as per the following age
cutoffs with proof of grade:

  • 8th Grade Division - An athlete must be in the 8th grade as of October 1, 2019 and can be no older than 15 on August 31, 2020. For an athlete that is in the 9th grade as of October 1, 2019 wanting to petition to play down, in the 8th grade division they can be no older than 14 on August 31, 2019.

 

  • 7th Grade Division - An athlete must be in the 7th grade as of October 1, 2019 and can be no older than 14 on August 31, 2020. For an athlete that is in the 8th grade as of October 1, 2019 wanting to petition to play down, in the 7th grade division they can be no older than 13 on August 31, 2020.

 

  • 6th Grade Division - An athlete must be in the 6th grade as of October 1, 2019 and can be no older than 13 on August 31, 2020. For an athlete that is in the 7th grade as of October 1, 2019 wanting to petition to play down, in the 6th grade division they can be no older than 12 on August 31, 2020.

 

 

  • 5th Grade Division - An athlete must be in the 5th grade as of October 1, 2019 and can be no older than 12 on August 31, 2020. For an athlete that is in the 6th grade as of October 1, 2019 wanting to petition to play down, in the 5th grade division they can be no older than 11 on August 31, 2020.

 

 

  • 4th Grade Division - An athlete must be in the 4th grade as of October 1, 2019 and can be no older than 11 on August 31, 2020. For an athlete that is in the 5th grade as of October 1, 2019 wanting to petition to play down, in the 4th grade division they can be no older than 10 on August 31, 2020.

 

 

  • 3rd Grade Division - An athlete must be in the 3rd grade as of October 1, 2019 and can be no older than 10 on August 31, 2020. For an athlete that is in the 4th grade as of October 1, 2019 to petition to play down, in the 3rd grade division they can be no older than 9 on August 31, 2020.

 


PLEASE ARRIVE 45 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST GAME TO COMPLETE THE
CHECK IN PROCESS. ALL PLAYERS MUST BE PRESENT TO CHECK IN YOUR TEAM. IF
A PLAYER IS NOT PRESENT AT TEAM CHECK IN, HE/SHE MUST BE CHECKED IN
INDIVIDUALLY BY THE SITE DIRECTOR PRIOR TO ENTERING THE COMPETITION.
ONCE A TEAM BEGINS THEIR FIRST GAME, THE TEAM ROSTER BECOMES LOCKED AND
NO CHANGES MAY BE MADE.IF A PLAYER FAILS TO MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS, THEN
ALL GAMES THEY PLAY IN WILL BE FORFEITED.

I.-GAME LENGTHS:
Two 12 min Halves (3rd-4th)
Two 13 Min Halves (5th-9th)


Halftime and 1st Overtime period will be 2 min-- -- 2nd Overtime is sudden death- first score wins.
1. Once a score margin reaches 20 pts a running clock will take effect. Running clock will remain until
the margin is below 10pts.


2. Teams will be allowed a 2 min warm up period, even if tournament is running behind.
II.-GAME TIME ARRIVAL & HOME TEAM:
*TEAM LISTED FIRST (HOME/ LIGHT COLOR)
*TEAMS MUST ARRIVE 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THEIR SCHEDULED; WE WILL NOT HOLD
COURTS!


Team listed first on schedule is home team, and wears white (or light color) jersey. Home team will sit on
right side of score table. In bracket play, team with higher seed will be home team. Home team will be
responsible for the scorebook.


III. -CLOCK/ CLOCK STOPPAGE:
Clock will stop as per High School Federation rules, except if tournament games are running behind
schedule.
In this event, clock will only stop on fouls, free throws, time outs, and during the last 2 minutes of the
game on dead balls.


IV.-FREE THROWS:


On Free throws, players are above the low block and can enter the lane when the shooter releases the
ball. The shooter and players outside circle may not enter until ball contact.


V. -TIMEOUTS:


Each team will be awarded 2 full (1 min) & 2 half (30 sec) timeouts per game. They may be used at any
time during the game. Each team will be awarded one timeout per each overtime period played.


VI. -Pool Play ties and/or Round Robin division winners will be determined by the following:


1. Head to head competition
2. 18 point max point system.
3. Least points given up
4. Coin toss
* NOTE – some divisions may not have pool play / bracket play

VII. -TECHNICAL FOULS:


Each coach or player will be allowed two technical fouls per game. After a second technical foul,
players/coach will be ejected from game. After first technical foul, the coach must remain seated for the
duration of the game.
Any player or coach receiving an ejection during our tournament is subject to dismissal from tournament
without refund. A player will no longer be able to play or sit on bench with team. Coaching from the
stands will not be allowed.


VIII. -FOULS:


Each player will foul out at (5) five fouls.
One and One penalty- 10 th team foul

IX. -RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. All coaches are responsible for the behavior of their assistant coaches, players, and PARENTS.
2. If no tournament representative is available, the home team will be responsible for keeping the official
scorers book and a member of the visiting team shall keep the score clock. The two teams can however
agree to change responsibilities.
3. We will enforce a zero tolerance policy on any all violent behavior. Any violators will be ejected with
no refund.
